Horses cannot be separated from people of Sumba’s daily life and culture since 18th century. Sandelwood equine is the biggest horse population in the island, well-known for its body posture and stamina although they are classified as pony. Besides its transportation usage, horse is valuable dowry and souvenir in ritual ceremony for locals.
