lovedrelentlesslybyhim asked: This is late, but happy anniversary to Being Indonesian! Like I said, your country is beautiful, and I can not wait to experience it next year and in the coming, very many times I'll come back! Thanks for sharing the beauty of your country with both your fellow Indonesians (and remind them they're blessed to be in a country like yours) and foreigners like me (and make them want to come).
God bless you, you are so nice, Alexis. Thanks a lot for your appreciation for my tumblr and my country. That means a lot. Come here and tell us your story soon. That’ll be cool. :))

WARAK NGENDOG (captured at Central Java Parade) - a mythical creature from Semarang, Central Java. Usually made a few days before Ramadhan (holy month for moslem), as the closing of dugderan (a traditional festival to celebrating ramadhan). This creature is believed to represent 3 different ethnics which live in Semarang: Javanese, Arabian, and Chinese. We can see the head is like dragon head (Chinese), while the body is the combination of buraq (a special animal resembling the winged horse with a human head believed to take Prophet Muhammad to Sidratil Muntaha ~> Arabian) and goat (Javanese).
The word warak comes from wara’i (Arabian) which means holy. Ngendog (laying egg) symbolized as the reward of a person having previously obtained through the scriptures. So, warak ngendog can be defined as those who maintain the sanctity of Ramadan, one day at the end of the month will be rewarded on the Day of Eid.
